Workflow Engine Setup

The Workflow Engine is a component that is responsible for executing the business processes that you create in the Business Studio. It is a lightweight, stateless, and horizontally scalable.

The Workflow Engine works in coordination with the Business Studio, which is where you will create your business processes. The Workflow Engine will then execute these processes, based on trigger event from the Business Connector, in a scalable and reliable manner.

Configuration parameters for the WE are passed to the application in the form or environment variables. See the specific installation method below for more information on how to set these environment variables.

There are two recommended ways to deploy the Workflow Engine. This guide will document each of these methods in turn.

• A single instance on a VM using Docker & Docker Compose files
• A scalable deployment in a Kubernetes cluster with Helm charts

After you have successfully deployed and started the Workflow Engine, using one of the methods above, you can proceed to Create a Business in the Studio.
